MIGRATING AN EXISTING R3DGAMES FOLDER TO A NEW INSTALLATION OF RISEN3D V2.2 ================================================================= This explains, for those who already have Risen3D v210 installed, how to prepare and migrate their existing games to a new install- ation of v220. When installing v220 then a clean install must be done. This means not using any existing directory name. If you already have R3D in c:\Risen3D for example but you want to do a clean install using the same directory name then first rename your existing c:\Risen3D to, say, C:\Risen3D_v210. Where you have a shortcut or shortcuts to the existing Launcher then delete these also. Having done this you can now do a clean install of v220 to c:\Risen3D (as, having renamed your existing folder, this one will now not exist). You must download all the new model packs etc. from the Risen3D website as well as the new v220 installer. Having installed v220 then run it to make sure everything is working properly. The launcher should only show a few udir directories. If not then you are still running the old Launcher and accessing your old [renamed] installation. Once satisfied that v220 is running correctly you can now prepare your existing R3DGames folder for migration to the new v220 installation. To do this then, from Explorer, right click on the old R3Dgames folder in your [renamed] c:\Risen3D_v210 directory. Select search and type in "savegames" (without the ""). This should bring up a window with all the savegame directories. In the search results window select all of these folders and then delete them. We need to delete these as none of the v2.1.0 savegames will be compatible with v220. Exit search and navigate to the R3DGames\R3Dtest folder. Having found it now delete it. Do the same for any R3D scripted map game folders that may have been installed; e.g. R3DGames\Chiller Castle R3DGames\Genetic Disaster R3DGames\Hell on Egypt R3DGames\Return to Lost City R3DGames\Rocket Base R3DGames\The Aztec R3DGames\Cruel Death The reason is because these have all been updated and the latest versions should be downloaded and installed. If you miss any then it is not overly important as the (main) Launcher will inform you that a newer version exists. If you use batch files or QLaunch, however, then they should be deleted. Other folders that can be deleted are those that are installed by default when v220 is installed, namely; R3DGames\Doom Classic 10b R3DGames\Shockem down Having now prepared your R3DGames folder for migration copy it across to the new Risen3D directory using drag and drop. When prompted to overwrite reply yes. Run R3D v220 and check that all the migrated game folders are now being shown in the Launcher window. Try running some of them. When satisfied that everything is OK you can then remove your old v210 install by deleting the C:\Risen3D_v210 directory.
